Pinnacle Design

Project: Genesee County

Designing a modern government workplace for Genesee County

Pinnacle Design was honored to serve as a trusted partner alongside Genesee County and MillerKnoll in the transformation of a former downtown Flint bank headquarters into a modern, people-centered municipal workplace serving 15 county departments.

From the earliest planning conversations through final installation and coordination, Pinnacle Design played a key role in helping bring the county’s vision to life.

Working closely with county leadership and project stakeholders, Pinnacle focused on understanding the organization’s culture, operational goals, and long-term needs to create spaces that would better support both employees and the residents they serve.

Rather than simply supplying furniture, Pinnacle became an extension of the project team—guiding design decisions and ensuring every detail aligned with the county’s goals for functionality, comfort, and fiscal responsibility.

The completed workplace reflects a thoughtful balance of historic preservation and modern workplace innovation over 10 floors and over 130,000sf.

Pinnacle helped furnish a wide variety of spaces throughout the building, including private offices, collaborative work areas, conference rooms, lounges, cafés, and wellness-focused amenities. Ergonomic furnishings, flexible workstations, and collaborative environments were carefully selected to enhance employee wellbeing, encourage connection, and create a welcoming atmosphere that supports recruitment and retention efforts across county departments.

Pinnacle Design also helped streamline the procurement and implementation process by leveraging MillerKnoll’s resources and cooperative purchasing solutions, helping the county maximize taxpayer dollars while avoiding unnecessary delays and administrative costs.

Throughout construction and installation, Pinnacle remained a reliable single point of contact, ensuring seamless communication, responsive service, and successful project delivery despite scheduling challenges.

The result is a future-focused municipal workplace that not only improves operational efficiency and resident experience, but also instills pride among employees and the community.

Pinnacle Design is proud to have contributed to a transformative project that demonstrates how thoughtful design, strong partnerships, and strategic planning can positively impact public service environments for years to come.
